A 3D scanning type of device has been being discussed in the last year as an important leap in 3D printing technology and an important accessory to it. 3D Systems is releasing this $399 handheld scanner and is immediately available in Staples stores and Cubify. Below, its uses are displayed – it can scan the full spectrum of colors and differently sized objects, ranging from a “cupcake to a full human being.”
